MODO COLOR TEST # 2

hi..yeap another one test color that i have done..same brand as previous one.

TEST #2

Test Subject:

Modo color
Modo Tool Wash, Code D-04(not in the picture),
Modo Thinner, Code D-01-  fast dry thinner
Modo Black Surfacer Code  MK-12
Modo Pure Black Code M002
Modo Aurora Red MK 15
Modo Aurora Blue MK 16

Purpose of activities

-To achieved color, their capabilities at the same time i'm also learn how mixing method and get to  know it properties

Method

- Basic paint mixing
- Dry and wet on wet technique when air brushing
**Surfacer>pure black>Aurora Red / Aurora Blue
- Mixing ratio suggested 1:7 (1 part paint, 7 part thinner due to their thick/ability to dilute)

Results/Findings

- Modo series have a bit thick viscosity compare to others model paint.its a lacquer base paint, smell horrible (hahaha..sorry modo..i have to be honest..its smells like shit, but i have smell  the worst.. A-Star paint). paint is safe on plastic kit, tested on gundam and militarily kit.

- Color properties look similar to Mr Hobby GX series, in fact you might get a similar effect as the M.Hobby GX series when you use on different undercoat ie: black, white, silver or gold..try to play around. but for this test i just use the spoon as it it (white color) and black spoon coated with their pure black paint, viscosity as expected quite thick.

*NOTE* this is what i learn and prefer my basic ratio on mixing paint, however you can play around depends on the paint viscosity/properties.

-Normal Color, flat, clear and gloss- 1:3 ( 1 part paint, 3 part thinner)
- For Metallic including pearl color- 1:6 ( 1 part paint, 6 part thinner)

Conclusion

- If you are looking for different feel/tone color ..you can try this, please view the picture for details.

CAUTION: PLEASE WEAR MASK AND YOUR WORKSTATION MUST BE WELL VENTILATED WHEN AIR BRUSHING ACTIVITIES OCCUR!

I'm still playing around and try to understand the mixture using their product line.i will do review another products if i have some spare pocket money..hahahhaha..Ok mate.. Stay tune and hopes the info will help others.
Thanx

MODO COLOR TEST #1...some of my minor activities

hi friends..quite a long time didn't post here due to
1- my workload a bit harsh for the past 10 months
2- im fucked up with some of my picture missing in this blog..
However..i will continue update it from now on..hahaha..if im not too busy..for intro here are some activities i do..test some colors from MGM..known now MODO

Test #1

Test Subject:

Modo color,
Modo Tool Wash, Code D-04(not in the picture),
Modo Thinner, Code D-01-  fast dry thinner
Modo Black Surfacer Code  MK-12
Modo Pure Black Code M002
Modo Star Silver Code MX 21
Modo Clear Sky Blue M044

Additional-

-Also tested their color with Gaianote T06 thinner(moderate)

Purpose of activities

-To achieved metallic sky blue and learn mixing method and get to  known raw materials properties

Method

- Basic paint mixing
-Dry and wet on wet technique when air brushing
Surfacer>pure black>star silver> clear sky blue

Results/Findings

-Modo series have a bit thick viscosity compare to others model paint.suggest to mix/thinned them to ration 1:4 with their own thinner or other brands. its a lacquer base paint, smell horrible (hahaha..sorry modo..i have to be honest..its smells like shit, but the worst is A-Star paint). paint is safe on plastic kit, tested on gundam and militarily kit.

-Their Star silver color, eventually the color particle is not very smooth resulting just a liltle bit roucg finished surface but its not too obvious.still you can manipulate and playing around with the color.
i do recommended to mix it with ratio 1:7 or 1:8 due to their color properties/viscosity.

- For the clear sky blue, no major issue except the thick viscosity

*NOTE* this is what i learn and prefer my basic ratio on mixing lacquer paint
-Normal Color, flat, clear and gloss- 1:3 ( 1 part paint, 3 part thinner)
- For Metallic including pearl color- 1:6 ( 1 part paint, 6 part thinner)
Conclusion

- Its a nice color to play with but my concern is on the silver particle only, other than that i can say it is recommended, another tips- the color hardly sticks on untreated area (surface MUST BE undercoat/treated with surfacer )

*NOTE* picture column #6, the middle spoon (black one) is base coated with Gaianote Star Bright Silver for comparison results only!

CAUTION: PLEASE WEAR MASK AND YOUR WORKSTATION MUST BE WELL VENTILATED WHEN AIR BRUSHING ACTIVITIES OCCUR!

I'm still playing around and try to understand the mixture using their product line.i will do review another one. Stay tune and hopes the info will help others.
Thanx

THE "GREENBELEY" AKA QUBELEY MK II

YOOO..how are ya reader and follower?? as usual..i'm kinda busy a bit with works..nowdays auditor keep coming to my place to do some monitoring..hahah..ok..anyhow here is an update on my Qubeley Mk II, basic coloring just Green..Bling Green..maybe i do a dual green tone or maybe just green it self but yah depends on the end results..for now its just some of the process WIP..

I first assemble the kit then disassemble it back, then soak them in the mixture of water and dishwasher liquid. i use the dishwasher liquid coz as ya all know or for your info, that this kit came with a glossy finished..normally some will sand it out but im too lazy to do it, so this is my solution and it works for me,(pls dont blame me if its not work on yours, if not u have to do the sanding works :) ) but i keep soaking them for about 4 or 5 days.

strain it and wait till it dries about 2 days and clip it for painting later.

METHOD

As i mention earlier i might be doing dual tone, well here is my 2 type of green tone, i do it layer by layer to achieved the bling bling..hahah which is:
#1 from left- (surfaced with evo black), layered by ultimate black, top with star bright silver and top it with Clear Green.
#2 from left- (surfaced with evo black), layered by ultimate black, top with star bright silver and top it with Primary color Green.

These are the outcome

I paint the internal frame flat black/surfacer evo color

Surface is unpolished yet

EPYON CUSTOM COLOR

In my previous update i do research on some colors and i pick one of it to color my EPYON..here some of the pictures..will update more..slow phase heeeee

Using EVO BLACK surfacer (GAIANOTE color) for undercoat, then i top with Gaia Gloss Black

Then Top it with Pearl Silver a base for inner frame and armour

do a lil bit wash..a light black wash on the frame..

Compare sample with wip- this is the color for the Armour
some of the painted parts

try to snap fit it to see color tone...

i do a lil bit tone so that it would be nice shading on it..just a lil bit..anyhow this is the outcome for my noob works..actually look not bad..hahahhaha..need more improvement in maintaining the color mixture and need more training
